The Daughters of Charity has a long history of involving volunteers in their Service and over the years has welcomed and worked with volunteers' talents and energies in a variety of ways. We realise that everyone has something to give. Volunteers both young and old can make a major contribution to the life of a person with an intellectual disability. They bring diversity and a wealth of experience through the sharing of their time, energy and enthusiasm.
How are volunteers involved?
Volunteers are involved in all aspects of our work; they are involved directly and indirectly with our service users, from befriending to gardening, from drama to driving, from social clubs to swimming – all skills, talents and ideas are welcomed.
Everyone has something to give
We believe in the unique contribution that volunteers make to our Service. No particular qualifications are required, just a willingness to make a reliable commitment and a difference in a person’s life.
Meet new people, Make new friends, Learn new skills but above all join us in recognising and celebrating everyone’s uniqueness and potential.
“I became a volunteer because I wanted to help, making a friend was an added bonus”
