The St Louise’s Support Group is a registered charity, CHY 19181, which was formed in September 2009 by amalgamating the Family & Friends Groups of St Teresa’s (Blackrock) and Holy Angels (Glenmaroon), shortly after the service users of those Centres moved to their new home in St Louise’s Centre.
The main objective of the St Louise’s Support Group is to assist the Daughters of Charity Service in caring for the service users of St. Louise’s Centre by providing financial and volunteer support. The Group also advocates on behalf of the service users and supports community inclusion.
To-date, the Group has provided four specially adapted 8-seater people carriers through their commitment to fundraising. Also, because of financial constraints and recruitment embargo within the Service, the Group provides financial support for materials, equipment and staffing, without which The Orchard View Recreation and Therapeutic Centre which could not continue to operate in the manner it was intended to. Supporting the Orchard View RTC is now the main financial aim of the Group. Social events are also organized for the Ladies of St Louise’s, such as the Monthly Ceili & afternoon tea in the Our Lady’s Parish Centre, Castleknock; visits to the Panto; annual party in a local hotel, etc.
Funding is raised by monthly contributions from many families; craft & cake sales; raffles, etc., and many families get sponsorships through running marathons, quiz nights, coffee mornings, etc. The committee members personally bear all administration costs.
Besides providing volunteer support for the social events, the Group would like to extend volunteerism to other areas such as driving, organizing walks or other outings for the Ladies.
