The libraries support the continuing professional development, training and information needs of staff, students on placements, families and service users.

COLLECTIONS
The libraries hold a comprehensive collection of books, reports, information files, government publications and print journals on a broad range of subjects including Intellectual Disability, Nursing, Gerontology, Palliative Care, Social Sciences, Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Education , Psychiatry, Pastoral Care, Assistive technology and Research Methods.
The libraries subscribe to a number of print and electronic journals.
Journalsare available for reference only.
BORROWING
The standard lending period for books is two weeks, but books that are in high demand may be borrowed on Short Term Loan. Regulations on registration and borrowing entitlements can be obtained from library staff.
TRAINING
Training in the use of ibrary resources is provided by library staff either on a one to one basis or to groups.
INTER-LIBRARY LOANS
Books and journal articles not available in the libraries may be obtained from other libraries.

idaal.com is a consortium of Intellectual Disability Libraries established to provide easy and comprehensive access to up-to-date information in this and related fields thereby supporting research, best practice and education in our services. It provides access to the following databases : Medline with full-text, Cinahl with full-text, PsychInfo, Psychology & Behavioural Sciences Collection. Access to FACTfinder and other management databases are available to all employees from www.imi.ie. Staff may contact the library for further assistance on using any of these databases. |
